The Walk

I have been done with the book for awhile and I would love to hear what you guys think about the book.  I loved this book.  Now I am reading the second one.  This book hit at home in some many ways.  First of all the first part of the book reminded me of when I was little and how dad was always working and then how things changed when mom got so sick.  It was so interesting to watch dad make a complete 360 when mom got sick.  It makes you think that does something awful have to happened to  make you look at your life and make changes where is needed.  After reading this book I have thought the same thing about my life is there things that I need to change?  How you guys ever thought that way.  Also the second thing that stood out to me and touch me was when he saw his wife and she told me it wasn't his time.  Something similar happened to me and I don't think I was ever told anyone.  A few months after Bryanna was born and I was having a hard time dealing with mom being gone and being a new mom.  I was up late and I was thinking I couldn't do it all.  I dozed off and I saw mom standing by me holding me up.  She told me that she would always be there and I needed to be strong.  There are so many times I have felt her helping me along the way and I am so grateful for that.  It is amazing to think how close they are to us.  This book was amazing to read because he is such a strong person to have all those things happen to him.  When he started his walk I thought would I be able to do that? So everybody what did you think about the book?

New Books

After my conversation with you (Lindsey) I was thinking about how we might go about decided on what books to read next. One of the things I was thinking about and passed it through Becca is that we each take a turn choosing the next book. So if we find a really good book we can suggest it to the next person but one of the ideas for me was I want to learn what each person likes to read and what their likes and dislikes are. So since I suggested the last book who wants to be next? I really enjoyed the last books so lets keep this moving. Or is this too fast and do we need to set guide lines like every 6 weeks we will decide another book or do we choose once we are done discussing the book.

Discussion

Okay so now we hopefully have each had a chance to finish the book or at lead get most of the way through it. Why dont we all write a question that we came up with and post it in a new post. Then we can respond to each other by posting comments?

My question is-How do you try to have strength and courage when all seems to be lost? I don't know how I would have kept going? Will power? The thought of home? or merely to prove other wrong? Lets be honest I am not a person who would give up that easily but in a situation like this I might reconsider? Any thoughts on what you would do?

Lone survivor - great book

I know it has only been one week but I am about half way through the book and I should be done but run into a couple of tungsten that prevented me from doing so.  This book brings back.many memories for me of my military service and many of the same opinions I have about war and how the news and politicians. I have found my self say horaah in the middle of the books and wanting to go jump in the water and start.   The saying so far j have lo ed is go he wet and sandy.  This reminds me of a couple of my Sargent's and it made me smile.  Oh how much I love the service men of this country.  I have been surprised at how well this book is writing since this is a first hand account and really brings the book alive for me.  Thank you Lindz for recommending this book it is awesome.

The first book

<p>I would like to suggest the first book or use Lindsey's suggestion for the book. The book is the lone survivor by Marcus Luttrell. I have the audio book for any one that wants to listen to it. I plan on doing this will all of the books that I can. I am willing to make copies for anyone that wishes. For ground rules I think you should be able to.post or make comments anytime you want or when you have a question.&nbsp; I am not sure how fast you want to read them. If I have the audio book I probably will finish them in a week.  So I am leaving that up to everyone else.
